Prepare Logo for Print: CMYK, Resolution, and Bleed
From screen to perfect print result
What looks perfect on screen can disappoint in print — if you don't prepare correctly. Here's how to make your logo print-ready.
RGB vs. CMYK
RGB (screen) uses light mixing — colors glow. CMYK (print) uses pigment mixing — some RGB colors (bright blue, neon green) can't be exactly reproduced in CMYK.
Convert your logo to CMYK before sending it to the print shop.
Resolution and File Size
- Vector files (SVG/PDF) — Resolution-independent, always the best choice
- Raster images (PNG) — Minimum 300 DPI for print
- Calculation: Final size in cm × 118 = pixels (at 300 DPI)
Example: Business card 85mm wide → Logo width 40mm → 40 × 11.8 = ~472 pixels minimum
Bleed
Don't print edge-to-edge — white strips appear. Always add 3mm bleed on each side. Your logo and background must extend beyond the actual edge.
SVG logos from our editor are automatically print-ready — no pixels, no resolution issues. Export as SVG and convert to PDF for the print shop.
